The Foundation collects donations to the weekend food program, an initiative that distributes food to District children in need. Donate to the weekend food program using the link above, or by sending a check to the MCPASD Education Foundation, c/o Perry Hibner, 7106 South Ave., Middleton, WI 53562. Indicate in the memo line that your donation is for the weekend food program.
This effort is spearheaded by five local churches, Middleton Outreach Ministry (MOM) and District social workers. More than 160 MCPASD elementary students are expected to benefit this school year from the Weekend Food Program, which offers nutritious snacks and meals for elementary children over the weekend. All six district elementary schools are included in the program: Elm Lawn, Northside, Park, Sauk Trail, Sunset Ridge, and West Middleton.
The churches involved are St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Middleton Community Church and West Middleton Lutheran Church. Money raised is used to obtain food from Second Harvest Foodbank of Wisconsin and other sources. Volunteers from the churches then pack food for use in the program, like these volunteers from St. Bernard’s.
The program is voluntary, free of charge and offered to families who believe they would benefit from extra food being sent home. MOM services are also available to the families. Families who are interested in learning more about eligibility for the program should contact the social worker at their child’s elementary school.
