The Education Foundation welcomes Dan Gibson and Melissa Simon to its board of directors.
Gibson is a principal with SVA Wealth Management. He has provided comprehensive financial planning and investment management services for SVA Financial Group clients since 1998. In his role, he consults with a broad range of clients on their investments and stays closely involved in ongoing investment research, analysis and financial plan development.
Simon works at University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Office of Business Engagement. As an avid Badger alum, Melissa uses her passion and expertise to build mutually beneficial relationships between companies and the university. Prior to joining UW, Melissa worked in career services and recruitment.
“We’re happy to welcome Melissa and Dan, and to have two Middleton High School alumni join our board,” said Purna Byraiah, chair of the Foundation. “Their business experience and community involvement will strengthen our efforts to partner with community members and businesses to invest in our schools.”
The board of directors includes 17 members from the community, school board and school district. Amber Kiggens-Leifheit serves as executive director.
The Education Foundation has raised more than $180,000 in recent months. Its Bloom event in March raised more than $50,000 to expand and diversify classroom libraries, and it raised $51,000 for meals and personal hygiene items for district students in need while school is closed. Its 2019 annual appeal raised more than $80,000 to fund programs in three areas – Arts, Equity and Grow Your Own – as well as award grants to staff and scholarships to graduating seniors.
