Education Foundation Thanks Donors for Surpassing $40,000 Fundraising Goal

The Education Foundation is thanking all the donors, campaign sponsors and local employers who contributed to the annual campaign and raised more than $68,000 for MCPASD schools!

The campaign has exceeded its $40,000 target ahead of its Nov. 15 deadline.

“Our fundraiser has been successful thanks to the whole community – individuals, campaign sponsors and local employers – stepping up to support MCPASD schools,” said Purna Byraiah, chair of the Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed, and we are impressed by our community’s strong commitment to our schools.”

Funds raised came from individual donors, three $5,000 matching gifts from campaign sponsors – Galin Education, Keva Sports Center and SwimWest – and gifts from local employers matching their employees’ donations, including American Family Insurance, CUNA Mutual Group, Gallagher Global, Johnson Controls, MilliporeSigma and UBS.

“MCPASD is the fastest growing school district in Dane county,” added Luke Fuszard, vice chair of the Foundation. “As the district grows and faces challenges that come with expanding, we are committed to working with the community to invest in MCPASD schools. Our campaign funds will help provide more opportunities for MCPASD students and staff beyond what the district budget can afford.”

Funds raised will support three areas – Arts, Equity and Grow Your Own – based on the school district’s priorities for the year. Specifically, funds will go toward:

– updating K-8 classroom libraries to ensure that children have access to culturally and linguistically responsive books;
– replacing old or unusable band and orchestra instruments to provide an opportunity for students in need to participate in music programs; and
– funding scholarships for graduating MCPASD students of color who want to pursue a degree in education and return to teach in MCPASD schools.

In addition, the campaign raises funds for the Weekend Food Program, which provides small meals and snacks each Friday for nearly 200 MCPASD students in need.
