The MCPASD Education Foundation kicked off its annual fundraising campaign today by sending an email to all district families.
It highlights how the campaign’s three matching sponsors – Galin Education, Keva Sports Center and SwimWest – each agreed to match donors’ gifts, up to $5,000, for contributions made by the campaign deadline of Nov. 15, 2019. It also explains how contributions will benefit the district’s schools.
Funds raised through the campaign will support three areas: Arts, Equity and Grow Your Own. The focus areas are based on the school district’s priorities for the year.
“We greatly appreciate the generosity of Galin Education, Keva Sports Center and SwimWest,” said Purna Byraiah, chair of the Foundation. “Their support and investment in our schools shows how important education is not only to district families but to our community as a whole.”
“Our campaign goal is to raise $40,000,” explained Luke Fuszard, vice chair of the Foundation. “The funds will go toward updating K-8 classroom libraries, replacing old or unusable musical instruments, and funding scholarships for graduating MCPASD students of color who want to pursue a degree in education and return to teach in MCPASD schools.”
The Foundation’s annual campaign page includes more details about how funds will support the district’s school. When making a donation, donors can also designate funds for the Weekend Food Program, which provides healthy snacks and small meals for MCPASD children in need.
