As a sponsor, each business has agreed to match donors’ gifts, up to $5,000, for contributions made by the campaign deadline of Nov. 15, 2019. Funds raised through the campaign will support three areas – Arts, Equity and Grow Your Own – based on the school district’s priorities for the school year.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support of Galin Education, Keva Sports Center and SwimWest,” said Purna Byraiah, chair of the Foundation. “They share our belief in the value of education and our commitment to providing more opportunities for MCPASD students and staff. All the funds raised though this campaign will directly benefit students and staff in our school district.”
The Foundation’s goal is to raise $40,000 through the campaign. Funds raised will go towards:
- updating K-8 classroom libraries to ensure that children have access to culturally and linguistically responsive books;
- replacing old or unusable band and orchestra instruments to provide an opportunity for students in need to participate in music programs; and
- funding scholarships for graduating MCPASD students of color who want to pursue a degree in education and return to teach in MCPASD schools.
“Money is tight and resources in school districts are always limited,” added Luke Fuszard, vice chair of the Foundation. “We are thrilled Galin Education, Keva Sports Center and SwimWest are helping us to stretch our dollars. Their investment in our students and teachers underscores how strongly education is valued in our community.”
The Foundation has received more than $100,000 in donations in four of the past five years, and has two endowment funds with Madison Community Foundation worth about $325,000. In each of the past three years, the Foundation has raised more than $20,000 in its appeals.
In October, the Foundation will email all district families with information on how to donate and how contributions will benefit the district’s schools. You can also donate now by clicking the button on the right side of the page.
